Wales-based Penderyn and Bad Wolf Studios unite to celebrate a decade of Bad Wolf storytelling with a limited edition Icons of Wales No. 13, Penderyn Bad Wolf.
NORTH Wales Penderyn Distillery and Bad Wolf Studios have joined forces to release Penderyn Bad Wolf, No. #13 in Penderyn’s Icons of Wales series, a toast to 10 years of storytelling from the Cardiff-based production company.
This Icons of Wales #13, Penderyn Bad Wolf, is a 10-year-old single malt whisky, that has been fully matured in Tawny Port pipes that once held Port wine for 60 years.
Bad Wolf are also the the makers behind Doctor Who, His Dark Materials and Industry. The bottle is potentially a collector’s piece, combining cinematic imagination with distilling mastery.
The bottle packaging packaging shows the legendary Bad Wolf symbol in mid-howl, embodying Wales’ fierce creative spirit.
Bad Wolf Studios ceo and co-founder Jane Tranter said:” I love that while we’ve been producing hundreds of hours of drama in Wolf Studios Wales, this whisky has been maturing in silence, waiting for its moment. Great things come to those who wait.”
Penderyn Distillery ceo Stephen Davies added: “Bad Wolf has electrified Wales with imagination, scale, and storytelling. It’s only fitting that our 10th Icons of Wales release honours their decade-long contribution to Wales’ modern identity through the arts.”
The single malt whisky has been crafted by master blender Aista Phillips:
- Nose: Light florals of orange blossom and rose petal unfold into fruitcake, fig jam, and ripe berries.
- Palate: Stewed dark fruits, marzipan, and bittersweet marmalade meet an undercurrent of sea-salt caramel and spice.
- Finish: Lingering dried apricot and caramel fade into a dry, elegant close.
