And you can try sipping and painting or flower arranging too….

10 different independent wine retailers are set to bring over 100 wines to the New Century Hall on 7-8th October 2022.

TICKETS cost £15 and are on sale here or on the door. The price includes wines to taste from a range of independent wine merchant retailers plus tutored tastings, flower arranging, painting, market stalls, wine bar and live music.

The event is part of the fortnight long Manchester Food and Drink Festival (MFDF) now in its 25th year.

Don’t miss the chance to chat directly to some of the industry’s most passionate and expert retailers, including the ‘all empowering of women’ duo Suppher, who will guide guests through the wines they have on offer.

Participating wine retailers include:

Cork of the North
Grape to Grain
Italy Abroad
That Wine Cellar
Sip Wine Bar
Ad-Hoc Wines
Central Wines
Le-Social
Suppher
UkiYo Republic

There’ll also be markets stalls from some of the most exciting independent foodie favourites around including Ancoats Coffee, Mello.Haus, Trafford Horticulture, MFDF Award-winner Dormouse Chocolates and Caroline Dowsett. See here for MFDF award winners.

Some of the wine retailers will be serving up specially matched grazing food, and attendees are also encouraged to refuel before or after the event at the incredible New Century Kitchen just downstairs.

A programme of tutored tastings and specialist masterclasses will take place across the weekend too, offering extra opportunities to delve into specific wine topics, themes and regions. All the masterclasses are free to attend and included in the ticket price.  As well as wine tutorials there’s also free flower workshops and even the chance to try your hand at painting.

Italy Abroad – Extreme Italian wines

There isn’t a universally accepted definition of extreme wines, but these could be defined as heroic as they are developed through fatigue, sweat, the persistence by small, passionate winemakers, produced in little knows, geographically impervious areas, tiny patches of land retaken from the mountains, in between rocks, or the sea.

Italy Abroad – Shades of Montepulciano. Montepulciano is a fantastic grape, the dream grape of every winemaker, it has all it is needed to make great wines, still it is often the cheapest wine on the shelf; it lacks the reputation it deserves. The Montepulciano grape is grown in the centre of Italy, and it is the main grape of the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC and DOCG Colline Teramane, because of its characteristics it is used in many blends and appellations.

Music will be provided by Babyflxcko and Lebo and the bar is open throughout.

Tickets are available here and will also be available on the door on the day.
