Top 50 Northern restaurants and bars announced

New entrant, House of Tides and Solstice by Kenny Atkinson, awarded with a special achievement trophy.

Newcastle-based Kenny and Abbie Atkinson were presented with a special achievement trophy along with Roxy Leisure Group & Concept Taverns operator at the  Northern Restaurant and Bar (NRB) trade show in Manchester.

The Kuits NRB Top Fifty Hospitality Power List 2024 recognised the couple, who have two Michelin Star restaurants, as trailblazers not only in the North-East, but the whole of the North.

Brothers Ben and Matthew Jones from the bar group, Roxy Leisure Group & Concept Taverns, were awarded for the growth of their business, having opened more than eight new sites, including the launch of the new King Pins brand.

Judged by a panel of northern hospitality experts, the list highlights the top performing and most influential hospitality operators from across the north who have excelled over the past twelve months.

New entries included The Gilpin Hotel and Lake House, Schofield Brothers, Rockingham Group, Kelham Island Brewery & Leah’s Yard, and Seven Bro7hers, and returning for 2024 is The Star at Harom and Star Inn The City.

Now in its 11th year, the Top Fifty highlights the talent and achievements made from hospitality operators from independent breweries through to Michelin starred establishments.

Northern hospitality has demonstrated growth and resilience over the past year, averaging 7.2% sales growth, according to research conducted by Northern Restaurant & Bar in partnership with CGA by NielsenIQ.

It’s been an immensely challenging period for hospitality but I think the North have demonstrated incredible tenacity, resilience and creativity to showcase and grow their amazing businesses but to showcase the amazing talent within them.
